Watch this video to learn how to navigate through SimplePractice to add diagnosis codes after the initial evaluation or to update any new diagnosis! It’s important that we update the diagnosis codes as soon as possible, since insurance will only accept claims with the appropriate codes.

FAQ

  • If you are not sure of the diagnosis code after the initial eval (such as differentiating CAS and dysarthria due to young age) please put a more general diagnosis (such as Phonological Disorders) for billing purposes. After some more time, we can change the diagnosis once we are confident.

  • There are some cases where the insurance won’t accept certain diagnosis codes, like picky eating as a feeding diagnosis code. We have to understand what the insurance is looking for, and make ethical decisions. Check out ASHA ICD-10 diagnosis Codes PDF

  • It should be done on the same day as the initial evaluation date - billing for the evaluation through insurance requires a diagnosis code. To get reimbursed, we need to make sure that Reception Team can submit in a timely manner.
